SIP, the Session Initiation Protocol, is a signaling protocol for Internet, flexible, extensible and open. SIP connectivity provides a Universal and multi-services Access. SIP was developed within the IETF MMUSIC (Multiparty Multimedia Session Control) working group.
Alcatel OmniPCX Office release 5.0 will provide public SIP connection and Private SIP connection for multi-site solution

Public SIP connectivity = SIP peering

SIP connection is the replacement of PSTN/ISDN trunks connecting private installations (PBXs).
SIP IP-Peering is a multi-service connectivity from the enterprise to the network. It supports multiple forms of real-time communication like, voice, video, presence, instant messaging.
Furthermore, the peering or Co-operation between IP-PBX and NGN deliver end-to-end services (Corporate Private Services + Operator Network Services).
Public SIP connectivity will provide to each SMB the possibility to reduce the communication costs by leveraging a single access for voice, data and internet.
The interoperability list of SIP carriers and SIP public switches compliant with the OmniPCX Office will be listed in the Business Partner Web site.
